A Prayer

from Detained by Jake Lennon

/

lyrics

Praying for a window on a wall
not to touch or even heed the call
just to know that my lot is not all
to see the flow of life for mine has stalled

praying through a gap between the bars
to see the distant hope of dwindling stars
silent so as not to spread my scar
I think of home and search my memory's shards

praying just to feel I'm not alone
that still a part of me remains my own
that something in this life is set in stone
despite the depths to which my heart is thrown

praying and I truly do believe
for others here have suffered just like me
and somewhere in this pain that makes us we
I've seen something that brings me to my knees.
